No. Currently our private MRI scanner requires you to lie down whilst your scan is being completed. Our professional radiographers will be on hand to welcome you at the appointment and answer your queries.

Private MRI scans are painless non-invasive ways to look at organs, muscles, bones and tendons inside your body.

It is vital that you are as still as possible during your private MRI scan to get the best pictures. Our friendly radiographers will assist and advise you throughout the scan.

Some private MRI scans require patients to have a dye injection (given through a vein) in order to get a better view of your internal organs. Our private GP or specialists will explain this to you in detail if this is required. Most private MRI scans do not need contrast agents.

Private MRI scans are available for outer body areas e.g. wrist, elbow, shoulder, knee or ankle. Other areas include areas of the spine, brain, abdomen and pelvis. Please call us on 01253 834055 and our scan team can answer your questions.

MRI scan times vary depending on the area of the body that is being scanned. For example, a shoulder scan can take a matter of minutes. On the other hand, a brain and full body MRI scan can take up to 90 minutes.

Our health professionals will speak to you to ascertain information to ensure you have the right scan. This can be over a telephone or video call and the referral will then be completed. There may be a charge for an MRI suitability assessment.

Our private MRI scans are done at a leading private hospital in the North West. The scans are done by a radiographer. The scans are reported on by a radiologist. Our private GPs will then go through the report with you at a separate appointment (this is included in the scan price).

If for any reason you need to cancel or rearrange your appointment we would appreciate it if you gave us at least 48 hour notice. Late cancellation fees may apply for cancellations at short notice.

Our MRI team will try to book appointments to suit your needs. For appointments that are booked very early a small deposit will be taken.

We aim to process private MRI scans quickly – and will get the report within 72 hours. Our GPs will always go through the results with you.
